They are looking for an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer who combines strong technical design expertise with advanced BIM capabilities. This is not a traditional BIM modelling position; the role requires significant engineering or architectural judgement alongside the ability to deliver and coordinate complex digital design projects. Working closely with engineering, AI, software, and product teams, the successful candidate will apply real-world design expertise to improve how buildings and building systems are generated, validated, coordinated, and documented. The role will also contribute to the development of AI-enabled design workflows, helping translate engineering knowledge and industry best practice into scalable technology. Key Responsibilities
Design buildings and building systems within a primary technical discipline, from concept through detailed design and documentation.
Develop, coordinate, and manage complex BIM models across architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines.
Deliver high-quality technical work across a varied portfolio of commercial, infrastructure, and mission-critical projects.
Apply engineering and design expertise to assess and improve AI-generated designs, automated workflows, and validation processes.
Collaborate with AI, software engineering, and product teams to translate practical engineering knowledge into scalable digital solutions.
Review designs for technical quality, constructability, code compliance, coordination, and adherence to relevant engineering standards.
Work across multiple building systems and disciplines while maintaining overall design quality and technical consistency.
Support client engagements and communicate technical recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Contribute to the development of best practices for AI-enabled design, BIM execution, model validation, and multidisciplinary coordination.
Identify opportunities to improve design processes through automation, computational design, and digital engineering methodologies.
Requirements
Approximately 14–20 years of professional experience delivering complex building projects from design through detailed documentation.
Professional background in architecture, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, plumbing, or building systems design.
Demonstrable ability to independently design and deliver projects within at least one core technical discipline.
Advanced BIM expertise, including strong Revit capabilities and experience coordinating multidisciplinary models.
Comprehensive understanding of relevant building codes, engineering standards, design principles, and industry best practices.
Ability to work effectively across multiple building systems and disciplines while maintaining technical and design quality.
Strong understanding of constructability, multidisciplinary coordination, and design QA/QC.
Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, including confidence working directly with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
Experience delivering projects within sectors such as multifamily residential, commercial buildings, data centres, airports, healthcare, research laboratories, industrial/manufacturing facilities, or other mission-critical infrastructure.
Experience gained within engineering consultancies, EPC organisations, multidisciplinary design practices, or design-and-build environments would be particularly relevant.
Comfortable operating with a high degree of ownership and autonomy within a fast-moving, high-growth technology environment.
Experience with computational design tools such as Dynamo, Grasshopper, or Rhino would be advantageous.
Python, scripting, or other BIM automation experience would be beneficial.
Exposure to AI-assisted design, digital engineering, Design Technology, BIM automation, model validation, or automated QA/QC would be advantageous.
Experience with digital twins, reality capture, 3D reconstruction, or related digital construction technologies would be beneficial.
