About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Supply Chain and Logistics Manager to oversee and optimize the planning, coordination, and execution of supply chain and logistics activities across the organization.
This role will take responsibility for inbound and outbound logistics, inventory management, purchasing, supplier and carrier coordination, transportation, cost control, and operational reporting. The successful candidate will ensure goods and materials are available and delivered accurately, efficiently, on time, and within budget, including the coordination of time-critical requirements for projects, exhibitions, conferences, and other business activities.
Working closely with internal teams, suppliers, logistics providers, and other external partners, the Supply Chain and Logistics Manager will identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen supplier performance, reduce costs, and enhance overall supply chain efficiency. The role will also support budgeting, performance reporting, KPI development, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate day-to-day supply chain and logistics activities, ensuring the efficient movement of goods and materials.
- Plan, monitor, and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with third-party carriers and logistics providers.
- Manage dispatch and delivery schedules to ensure goods arrive accurately and within agreed timescales.
- Review and optimize transportation routes, shipping methods, and dispatch processes to improve efficiency and control costs.
- Source, negotiate, and secure competitive transportation rates and logistics services.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, vendors, carriers, warehouses, venues, and other external partners.
- Manage inventory-control processes, maintaining accurate stock records and coordinating regular inventory audits and reconciliations.
- Coordinate the purchasing of inventory, materials, and supplies, including obtaining quotations, comparing suppliers, negotiating commercial terms, and ensuring timely fulfilment.
- Monitor supplier and carrier performance, proactively addressing service issues, delays, discrepancies, and shipping errors.
- Coordinate logistics for time-sensitive projects, exhibitions, conferences, and other operational requirements where necessary.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to support order management, purchasing requirements, delivery schedules, and issue resolution.
- Develop, maintain, and reconcile supply chain and logistics budgets, expenditure records, and cost reports.
- Prepare accurate logistics documentation, management reports, dashboards, KPIs, and performance analysis.
- Analyze supply chain and logistics data to identify trends, risks, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for operational improvement.
- Review existing supply chain and logistics procedures and implement scalable processes that improve efficiency, visibility, and control.
- Support continuous-improvement initiatives across purchasing, inventory management, transportation, and supplier management.
- Ensure logistics and transportation activities comply with relevant company policies, industry standards, and applicable legislation and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- Minimum of three years’ relevant experience within supply chain, logistics, shipping, inventory management, purchasing, operations, or a comparable role.
- Demonstrable experience managing multiple shipments, suppliers, logistics providers, and competing deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of inbound and outbound logistics, transportation, inventory control, purchasing, and supplier management.
- Experience obtaining quotations, negotiating transportation rates, supplier pricing, purchasing terms, and service agreements.
- Strong spreadsheet and data-analysis capabilities, including experience with complex formulas, pivot tables, lookup functions, data validation, reconciliation, dashboards, and reporting.
- Experience preparing, managing, and reconciling budgets, operational expenditure, and supplier costs.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational data, identify trends, monitor KPIs, and translate findings into practical recommendations.
- Excellent attention to detail, with a strong focus on inventory accuracy, documentation, data integrity, and cost control.
- Strong organizational, project-management, and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with suppliers, carriers, logistics partners, internal stakeholders, and senior management.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, particularly when responding to urgent delivery, inventory, supplier, or transportation issues.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement, with experience identifying and implementing more efficient supply chain and logistics processes.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of operational responsibilities, and adapt quickly to changing business priorities.
- Familiarity with supply chain, shipping, ERP, CRM, project-management, business-intelligence, or comparable operational systems would be advantageous.
- Experience developing logistics dashboards, KPIs, supplier-performance measures, and period-on-period operational reporting would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of relevant transportation, shipping, inventory-control, and supply chain regulations and industry best practices.
- Experience working collaboratively with Finance or Accounting teams on expense reconciliation, supplier documentation, purchasing controls, and payments would be advantageous.
- Previous experience supporting high-volume or time-critical logistics operations, including exhibitions, conferences, projects, or similar activities, would be beneficial.
- Willingness to travel when required and provide occasional out-of-hours support for critical operational activities.
