How did you find yourself working in the PropTech sector?

Having been a residential solicitor in the UK for many years I have seen at first hand the poor customer journey of home movers and I thought I was well placed to try to do something about it.


What does your role entail at Youconvey?

As the Founder of YouConvey I have been responsible for taking my vision from concept to launch . My every day roles goes across the whole of the Company – from Business Development through to speaking to Customers about their live transactions.


At what point did you realise there was a gap in the market, and you had the product/service for it?

No one I have ever spoken to has “enjoyed “ the conveyancing experience – whilst the UK Government is unlikely to review the antiquated conveyancing process any time soon I could see how to engage customers in the process, reduce anxiety and improve their overall experience.


What are the challenges in the UK PropTech for your company?

Any new product or proposition – especially when involving the largest financial transaction of peoples lives needs to convince and reassure the market and customers that it is safe and customers are protected legally – there is also the incumbent conveyancing industry which is not known for its prop savvy culture!


What are the long-term plans for your business in the UK?

Having introduced a new and unique conveyancing service we are hoping to reach 5 % of the market in the next 3 years – this would make us the biggest conveyancing company in the UK. 


What does the next year hold for your company? What are your expansion plans? 

Next year is all about growing our business over the next 12 months in terms of customer and our proposition.


Future of UK PropTech, what do you think is going to be important this year?

Smart automation, block chain and AI automation is going to become more and more important in the conveyancing industry.


What advice would you give to someone looking to enter the UK PropTech industry?

Build something that someone wants. 


What are your thoughts about the UK Fundraising landscape?
