Our Q&A series is an opportunity for our Southern European team, headed by Giulio Di Pietrantonio, to discuss all things PropTech, Start-ups, and Career with different founders from across the region. Each week we will ask PropTech innovators burning questions and quiz them about their product – we hope you find it insightful and enjoy getting to know the founders as much as we have.
This week we have been in touch with Rebeca Perez, CEO and Founder of Inviertis.
Inviertis Properties is a response to small and medium investors’ need for real estate investment. Simple, transparent, and intuitive, a way of investing that allows you to receive cash flows from the first moment by investing in properties that are already rented. The Inviertis online platform allows its users to choose the investment that suits them best based on their budget, zone preferences or characteristics and carry out the entire transaction, if desired, online.
It was by chance, I never thought about starting up a business within the Real Estate sector but, as many others, a frustrating personal experience allowed me to spot an opportunity. What is curious is that when I first started I thought I was there to serve the seller who needs to sell with tenants and the tenants, but later, I realized that investors were the real client and started developing for them an end to end solution.
I was taking my second degree which had a strong focus on innovation and entrepreneurship so I had open eyes for it. During my second year, I had to do an essay on a marketing subject and took the chance to do my first marketing research but, as said earlier, focused on solving the seller’s problem by targeting the investor.
There are a lot. First, in the last years we have been affected by countless regulatory changes… then, it is a sector with a wide tradition that has made great money without changing anything at all, so what should anything be changed? The opposition to change is hard. Even it is discussed all the time, when it comes to facts, everything moves really slowly.
Next year we will be preparing our European expansion, and we are already targeting EU residents and Latam investors. We are looking forward to expanding to the UK, Germany or France but that will be in 2023, it is a bit early to talk about, before that we have to become stronger in Spain.
I haven’t raised money recently, we are an almost bootstrapped company but we are about to open a round in the next weeks and being honest…. and the market feels uneasy… Might not be the best moment to raise according to VC but if entrepreneurs did things easy.. We wouldn’t be entrepreneurs!
What can already be seen is a trend to agglutinate companies, acquisitions, merges… also PropTech are looking forward to sizing bigger pieces of the value chain if not all. Fewer players but bigger business.
