Our client is looking for a Senior Engineer to join their growing technology team and play a key role in developing innovative, AI-driven solutions. The successful candidate will work across the full technology stack, including backend development, data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and deployment processes. Collaborating closely with a highly skilled engineering team, they will help design, build, and scale a modern microservices-based platform, while maintaining high standards of code quality, performance, and reliability. The role also offers the opportunity to leverage AI-powered development tools and practices to enhance software engineering productivity and accelerate delivery.
  
Key Responsibilities

• Work across the full technology stack, contributing to the design, development, and delivery of scalable software solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality technical outcomes.
• Design, develop, and enhance modern microservices-based applications and platforms.
• Promote engineering best practices, ensuring high standards of code quality, reliability, and operational performance.
• Leverage AI-powered development tools and techniques to improve software engineering productivity and delivery efficiency.

Requirements

• Extensive commercial software engineering experience, ideally at a senior level.
• Strong proficiency in modern Python, including asynchronous programming concepts.
• Experience with Python dependency and package management tools.
• Proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Solid understanding of database design, optimisation, and performance across both SQL and NoSQL technologies.
• Experience with graph databases, or the ability to quickly learn new database technologies.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures, messaging systems, and asynchronous communication patterns.
• Strong understanding of API design, data validation, and serialisation best practices.
• Experience implementing application monitoring, observability, and performance tooling.
• Exposure to cloud-native development, including serverless architectures and public cloud platforms.
• Experience working across the technology stack, with a primary focus on backend development and the ability to contribute to frontend features when required.
• Good understanding of web technologies, HTTP protocols, and third-party API integrations.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted software development tools to improve engineering productivity, including the ability to effectively review and validate AI-generated code.
• Familiarity with AI-driven development workflows, leveraging intelligent coding assistants for tasks such as code generation, refactoring, testing, and documentation.
• Comfortable working across multiple technical domains and adapting to changing priorities.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to take ownership of projects from concept through delivery.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a close-knit engineering team.
• Adaptable and comfortable working in fast-paced environments with evolving requirements.
• Passionate about supporting and mentoring less experienced engineers, helping to foster technical growth within the team.
