About the Role
  
A technology-focused company is looking for an experienced HVAC controls engineer to oversee the installation and commissioning of an advanced building optimization solution across customer sites in the New York City metropolitan area. This role is responsible for managing the complete deployment process, from project initiation through final handoff, while ensuring reliable integration between software platforms and building automation systems. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on field engineering, coordinating cross-functional projects, and delivering seamless system integrations.
  
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation and commissioning of a building optimization solution from project initiation through completion, overseeing timelines, budgets, subcontractors, and client communications.
  • Manage several concurrent projects, coordinating effectively with clients, vendors, facility staff, and internal teams.
  • Oversee integration between a cloud-based platform and onsite control systems, validating hardware and software communications in collaboration with systems integration specialists.
  • Act as the technical authority during final commissioning and acceptance, ensuring quality standards and client requirements are met.
  • Work closely with deployment and integration teams to support reliable algorithm rollout and data connectivity.
  • Complete all project closeout documentation to enable a smooth transition to ongoing service and operations teams.
  • Maintain clear, proactive communication with all stakeholders to promote transparency and high client satisfaction.
  • Provide technical support to energy engineering efforts, including estimating, incentive applications, and related activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for internal processes and system development.
  • Stay informed on advancements in HVAC controls, building automation systems, and energy-efficiency best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, with a preference for HVAC, mechanical, electrical, or building automation backgrounds.
  • Approximately 5–10 years of experience in controls, building automation systems, MEP engineering, or related fields, including several years leading BAS or controls projects in commercial facilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience in client-facing or stakeholder-facing roles.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to project sites within a major metropolitan area.
  • Highly organized and proactive, with the ability to coordinate effectively across diverse teams and partners.
  • Self-motivated professional with a growth-oriented mindset, comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Quick learner capable of working independently after an initial onboarding period.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify operational inefficiencies and contribute to process improvements.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Niagara Tridium platforms and related applications.
