Job Description:

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will develop and manage foundational services that are critical to the success of the Engineering organization. You will design, build, test, deploy, and support what you and the team produce. Through partnering with other engineering teams, you’ll drive business value while also producing great code. Internal applications are built using a highly scalable microservice architecture that is deployed via containers to their cloud hosted Kubernetes environments.

Our client’s platform is growing fast, and with that come opportunities to build highly scalable services. You will be expected to take ownership of projects and identify software design gaps. You’ll tackle a variety of problems from scaling out infrastructure, to help design software and process patterns other teams can leverage via R&D. The primary focus of this role will be to design, develop, and maintain foundational services for Engineering. Every decision you make will be tied to moving the firm forward.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain services.
• With R&D time, explore technologies to provide patterns on how they might be used.
• Build for the cloud, in scalable, repeatable, and reliable manner.
• Improve the software development, and deployment process across the firm.
• Leverage Kafka for messaging
• Write automated unit, integration, and deployment tests
• Develop software defined infrastructure
• Design data models and persist data to MySQL and Snowflake
• Automate deployments in coordination with Platform and DevOps engineers
• Identify opportunities to automate away repetitive tasks
• Lead technical design and code reviews to drive projects towards the best results
• Drive a project from design and deployment across all environments.
• On-call for services developed and managed by the team.

Qualifications:

• An ability to design, develop, and test RESTful microservice in higher level language, such as Go, Java, C#.
• Possess strong object-oriented programming experience in either Go, Java, or C#
• Have a desire to learn and adapt to new technologies

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS
• A willingness to teach, coach, and mentor others
• Have SQL experience
• Experience in one or more of messaging, search, caching, automation and UI frameworks
