PropTech R Programmer/ Shiny Developer role based Remotely in the US

About our client

Are you interested in building state of the art analytics products to create advanced products from the ground up? Our client is building custom applications for clients and large-scale tools to support internal organizational needs. The company is a national leader in providing strategic economic guidance to the real estate industry, and is seeking an R Shiny Developer.

Founded in 1967, our client is a pioneer in bridging market and financial feasibility, consumer research, and industry intelligence. Their professionals are widely respected for their ability to assess economic and market directions, and to translate these trends into project concepts and financial guidance.

Our client is looking for an R Programmer/Shiny Developer to join the Innovation, Data & Analytics team. This team member will work cross functionally with data analysts, consultants, and data scientists to build applications for data analysis and visualization for both internal and external clients. These tools will utilize maps and present data interactively with the ability to upload user data, modify existing data, and render reports in various formats.

Key duties include:
  • Participate in the building of current data products and solutions
  • Develop the ability to use our current visualization tools as well as define and create new ones
  • Build Shiny applications to deliver high quality data and utilize models created by a data science team
  • Build production grade applications and APIs
  • Create internal packages to improve efficiency and quality of R usage in the organization
Minimum Technical qualifications
  • Experience building all parts of a Shiny application
  • UX / UI
  • Server side processing
  • Client side processing
  • Hosting, security & authentication
  • Experience deploying data in a cloud environment
  • Understanding of GIS and spatial data analysis
  • Storage data types and spatially indexed data structures
  • At least 2 years of experience working on data pipelines
  • Technical knowledge with at least 2 years of experience in most of the following:
  • Querying via SQL
  • R package development
  • Cloud deployment methodology
  • Big data processing architecture: Spark, Dask, etc.
  • Programming technology
  • Must have: R, SQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Nice to have: Python
  • Understanding of web frameworks
  • Experience with some of the libraries: tidyverse, sf, leaflet, DT, kableExtra, shiny, bslib, shinyjs
Other Qualifications:
  • Understanding of the real estate investment industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, or other quantitative field
  • Passion for data visualization
  • Ability to work independently and hit deadlines
  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics in an easily digestible manner
