Our Client is looking to welcome a PropTech & Smart Buildings Manager to their team located in London.

Reports to: Head of PropTech & Innovation  

About The Role: We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our company as a PropTech & Smart Buildings Manager.

The ideal candidate will have a background in real estate, PropTech and Smart Buildings, with a passion for innovation and a desire to drive change in the industry.  

What you will deliver: 

  • Support the Head of PropTech & Innovation with the design and delivery of the King’s Cross wide PropTech and Innovation strategy. 
  • Conduct research on emerging trends and technologies in real estate, PropTech, and smart buildings, identifying opportunities for PropTech and innovation to add value to King’s Cross.  
  • Leverage PropTech and new technologies to deliver on ambitious targets around Net Zero Carbon, customer experience and data-driven decision making.  

Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration within the organization. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for innovation, mapping pain points across the organisation and guidance on best practices. 
  • Support the internal communications strategy throughout different mediums in the business to promote awareness of PropTech, innovation and technology. 
  • Engage with the King’s Cross supply chain, including property managers and specialist subcontractors on Smart Building adoption and creating an innovation culture of piloting and ‘learning by doing. 

Project manage initiatives from ideation to implementation, including vendor identification, leading due diligence, business case creation, sign-off, planning, execution, and monitoring of projects. 

  • Lead and assist in the running of Requests for Proposal for technology vendors and/or start-ups for specific projects. 
  • Lead and assist in due diligence of technology vendors and/or start-ups for PropTech pilots and Smart Building implementations. 
  • Lead and assist in the contracting of technology vendors and/or start-ups for PropTech pilots and Smart Building implementations, within the legal framework set out for engaging with technology vendors at King’s Cross. 
  • Lead and assist in the implementation of Smart Building upgrades (e.g. networks, access control, digital screens) 

Ensure that all PropTech pilots and Smart Buildings receive consistent reporting throughout the pilot process, clearly documenting key risks, performance vs KPIs, learnings, etc – and providing a live project status dashboard. 

Support strategic engagement with King’s Cross Venture Capital partners (Pi Labs and Concrete), with the aim of maximising the strategic value derived from these relationships. 

Skills and Attributes Required: 

  • 5+ years of experience in real estate, proptech, or smart buildings. 
  • Strong knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in the real estate industry. 
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.  
  • Ability to build and manage diverse relationships to get the best results. 
  • An entrepreneurial and curious approach. 
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.  
  • Highly numerate with excellent writing skills. 
  • Ability to engage at a high level regarding technical aspects of software, building systems, data strategy, etc. 
  • Existing knowledge of Smart Buildings platforms, protocols and technology architectures. 
  • Enthusiasm and interest in learning more about the technical requirements of delivering a Smart Building strategy. 
  • Proficient use of MS Office, particularly Excel for advanced data analysis. 

Preferred 

  • Prior experience working with or in start-ups, ideally within the real estate industry. 
  • Prior experience working in or with real estate companies. 
  • A professional network within the UK and global PropTech ecosystem. 
  • Prior experience of Smart Building solutions (e.g. IOT, BMS, etc) and/or Smart Building technical expertise.
