PropTech Managing Director role based in New York, US

About our client

Our client, a leading, global commercial real estate services firm, is seeking a New York market leader for its Workplace Practice Group to help lead, manage and grow the firm’s Workplace practice.  The Company has offices in 30+ US cities and 600 locations globally.  The culture is meritocratic, collegial and highly entrepreneurial.

As a senior leader in the group, the New York market leader will source and execute workplace consulting projects, manage and provide workplace resources for client teams, and participate in “pitch” meetings in order to strengthen the firm’s business development efforts.

The New York market leader will help clients develop strategies and approaches to enable their employees to work more effectively, invest in their workspaces and work-from-anywhere technologies to improve talent attraction, retention and productivity and further the client’s business mission.  The market leader will work with clients to understand their culture, technology, work methodology and business goals and then execute workplace observation or measurement studies, elicit data and other feedback from clients in order to make appropriate recommendations.  Additionally, this position will also involve management of roll-out/implementation planning, as well and Change Management and Communication strategies.

The position reports to the North American Workplace Practice Group leader.

Job Description

Specifically, NY market leader will:

  • Collaborate and align with senior NY broker leaders to pitch and secure business
  • Pursue and secure stand-alone workplace engagements from occupiers of real estate, including corporations, partnerships, institutions, government agencies and non-profits
  • Pursue and secure workplace engagements, as part of a larger client service team, contributing to RFPs and participating in “pitch” meetings to secure client assignments.
  • Execute on workplace engagements, drawing on and managing other firm resources as necessary
  • Leverage professional networks, including Corenet, to identify new business opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with other Workplace team members nationally to share best practices and amplify workplace service offerings and delivery
  • Remain on the cutting edge of Workplace issues by participating in continuing education opportunities in the field
  • Identify and procure appropriate technology tools to enhance delivery of workplace services
  • Source or develop and maintain relevant benchmarking studies
  • Collaborate with Project Management teams to inform their process as necessary
  • Contribute to leadership discussions regarding appropriate business development pursuits
  • Coaching and mentoring junior team members
Qualifications

Qualified applicants will possess the following attributes, skills, experience and education:

  • BS/BA degree
  • 8-15+ years’ experience in occupant-focused Architecture, Design, Corporate Real Estate or Consulting, with an emphasis on Workplace and/or Real Estate Strategy
  • Subject matter expertise in some aspects of Workplace Strategy
  • At least 5 years’ experience pursuing, closing and delivering on new business engagements
  • Ability to initiate, sustain and grow senior level client relationships
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including oral presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as manage teams
  • Ability to travel to client locations; travel will likely be 20% with minimal overnights
  • Experience in projects for Law Firms and Energy companies a plus

The position offers competitive initial base salary and potential for significant bonus compensation, as well as exceptional longer term earning potential.
