Our client is an early-stage (less than 15 people) start up providing a one stop shop operating system for loans, transactions, assets, and payments. Operating in the commercial real estate / multifamily space, they aggregate and standardize property financial data directly from the source, resulting in error-free reporting. Selling into owners, lenders, investors, and property managers with scalable tools to automate data workflows and compliance. They’re supported by leading venture capital firms
As the Head of Strategy and Operations, you will:
– Work closely with the CEO/founder to drive the company’s strategic initiatives, optimize our business model, and implement operational efficiencies.
– Lead the development and execution of a scalable go-to-market strategy
– Opportunity for a gritty, entrepreneurial problem solver able to toggle between strategy and execution
Strategic Planning
- Translate strategy into actionable goals and milestones to ensure focused execution.
Operational Execution
- Provide insights to inform key business decisions, including go-to-market (GTM) strategy and goal setting.
- Continuously refine the strategy for optimal performance and scalability
Industry and Customer Segmentation
- Conduct market research to identify growth opportunities within key industry and customer segments
- Define target customer segments and value propositions that address real market needs
Business Model Optimization
- Review and optimize the business model for improved scalability, profitability, and sustainability.
- Implement changes that support long-term growth and operational excellence.
Candidate profile:
- Ideally ~10 years of relevant work experience (e.g., investment banking; management consulting; strategy, strategic finance, biz ops, or chief of staff function at high-growth start-up)
- Direct work (or advisory experience) with a tech/fintech company preferred
- CRE experience or exposure preferred
- Entrepreneurial – finds the messiness of 0-to-1 building exhilarating
- Strong conceptual facility; extremely fast thinker
- Comfort “fog sculpting,” making amorphous projects tractable
- Well honed interpersonal skills; able to drive results through others without compromising relationships and rapport
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced (and at times chaotic) environment
- Strong bias for action
- Obsessive attention to detail; high bar for your own work product
- Superior communication skills (e.g., memos, verbal presentations)
- Advanced financial modelling skills
