Digital twins are virtual replicas of real things in buildings and cities and are used to optimize every aspect of building design and planning, construction, and operations, including the reduction and elimination of carbon emissions.

Our client specialize in providing digital twin solutions to the built environment to help building owner ‘go green’ cheaper, better, and faster, using their data and analytics to optimize the decarbonization process from end to end.

With 9 American cities and states having enacted legislation requiring building owners to eliminate emissions just recently, they find themselves in the right place at the right time with the right approach.

They’re seeking a seasoned Director of Engineering to rapidly build their transformative 3D Digital Twin platform dedicated to helping building, city, and infrastructure organizations achieve their energy transition objectives.

In this role, you will partner with Senior Director of Product Management and CTO and other stakeholders to create requirements driven by risk considerations and delivery milestones, and then recruit, develop, and align engineering resources to exceed expectations. They expect you to come to the organization with a strong understanding of digital twin platform technologies especially as they pertain to the challenges of the built environment and building industry tech/prop tech. Preference will be given to candidates with experience bringing Digital Twin platform products to market that integrate GIS (ESRI), BIM (Autodesk, Bentley), IoT / dynamic data (BMS, EMS), static / state data (open/public), proptech APIs, etc. with 3D game engine technologies (aka Unity, Unreal, Cesium) and data ingestions systems (TwinMaker, MSFT Azure IoT)

The Role

• Prioritize and manage the workload of the software engineering team and guide them
• Partner with stakeholders to align resources to priorities and ensure desired outcomes
• Recruit, retain and inspire multiple software engineering teams
• Provide career guidance and development plan for the engineering staff
• Communicate and collaborate with senior leadership to deliver the next generation of their product and other products
• Manage a global engineering team (US, Europe, India)

What You’ll Bring

• S./M.S/PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive software development experience
• 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams
• Experience with an object-oriented languages
• Experience with Agile and DevOps principles preferred
• Familiarity with parallel and distributed processing
• Experience with Cloud (AWS) stack is preferred
• Experience with digital twin technology applied to smart cities and buildings preferred
• Experience with (open-source) tools and technologies for 3D interaction is a huge plus
