End of PropTech Week - PropTech Careers Fair

Final day of PropTech Week NYC was hosted by Steve Nson, from AnySizeDeals. This was the first Global PropTech Career Fair during NYC Real Estate Tech Week at the incredible Williamsburg Hotel.

Unfortunately, we only managed to go to the second day, but it is a two-day Global PropTech Conference in conjunction with NYC Real Estate Tech Week.  We caught up with old friends from Enertiv and new friends at Humanyze who have been going for 10 years already and listened to some great speakers on interesting topics.

Steve moderated a panel between Thais Galli, Managing Director of Head of Studio - Tishman Speyer's coworking platform and Robert Andrews, Director of New York City at Rubenstein Partners. They spoke about the changing workplace and the importance of use of space through tech to improve health and wellbeing. They also identified the importance of creating spaces with different amenities depending on industry and sector. For example, in Beverly Hills they provide screening and editing rooms and areas for yoga, unfortunately we do not have that in our office building in London yet….

After listening to various speakers like Jonathan Schultz, Founder and Managing Principal at Onyx Equities we caught up with Karen Oh, Director of Energy Solutions at Vornado Realty Trust. Vornado is also the real estate industry leader in sustainability policy. The company owns and manages over 23 million square feet of LEED certified buildings and received the Energy Star Partner of the Year Award, Sustained Excellence 2019. In 2012, Vornado commemorated 50 years on the NYSE. They are looking at how technology can enhance this. Karen was also a great guide for good conferences to go to and how she has found the construction and sustainability space changing. As you can imagine it is slightly slower than other areas of PropTech.

We then went and met Josh Gretton, a good friend in blockchain recruitment who has helped us find Xan Winterton, our new head of US.

The whole trip has been awesome, and we have thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone.

LMRE are already looking forward to coming back out to hopefully host a dinner with Michael Beckerman and our new friends in the US on 11th and Leila Collins Pomegranate Group on 12thDecember. So, feel free to reach out to catch up about recruitment and with any other questions.

Now back to London for Brad and I, as we prepare to train up Thomas Pickett from the European PropTech firm Drawbotics as our new Head of UK for LMRE.
